FAQ - for operators

In the following operators of (future) collection point will find answers for the most frequently asked questions. Having any more questions? Please do not hesitate to contact us!

RUN is the abbreviation for ReUse Notebook. RUN is a CIP-Eco–Innovation Programme co-founded project. The main goal of the project is the reuse of notebooks, netbooks or similar devices – just granting them a second life(cycle).

On the one hand RUN is made for any person or company who wants to grant its device a second life instead of introducing it way to early into the recycling process.

On the other hand RUN is made for example businesses, organizations, associations or clubs who want to bring their self in the project and contribute to eco-friendly behavior or just want to profit from marketing effects or image gain.

A second lifecycle slows down the resource consumption of scare and strategic earths needed for initial production and therefore makes them usable a longer time. Additionally impacts caused by general mining processes (e.g. such as water and air pollution due to the use of hazardous chemicals) and fossil oil depletion (as energy carrier for mining) are reduced significantly.

Every business, association, club or any other organization (e.g. gas station, libraries etc.) may become a collection point. Just show the coordinator your willingness to participate. Being interested? Just contact us!

Private persons or SMEs who want to introduce their devices into a second lifecycle hand them in at the collection points. Related to RUN’s target specific group mostly single (or only small amounts) will handed over to you.

Collection Point’s task is the receipt and collection of the devices. Since you reached a (individual) defined amount of collected devices just get in touch with the consortium and we will arrange the pick-up (by the team itself or by a service provider).

Consumers should hand in their devices completely (AC power supply, accessory, manual etc.) and undamaged. We suggest the consumer to erase their private data before.

In the first phase of the project your business or organization will profit from marketing effects, image gain and you just feel good having done something for humanity and the environment.

Acting as collection point for the RUN-Network you underline your business’ engagement for the environment and the more and more increasing sustainability concept. The consortium is promoting the project on several events and participating collection points get published. This will increase your business’ awareness level and your walk-in customers.

In the second phase of the project, on which we are currently working, we will pay a commission for quality devices. As collection point we will update you regularly.

The web site provides a detailed description on the project and is used for updating our partners, customers and project’s progress.

During the first project phase you just need to confirm, if reqired, the receipt of customer’s device (Receipt should include device and serial number).

In the second phase of the project, on which we are currently working, we will pay out the customer for quality devices. As collection point we will update you regularly.

You have to collect the devices protected against unauthorised access and there may not occur any damage caused by the collection or inventorying procedure. The design of this process is up to you because it’s you who knows best your business’ space and appearance and what fits best to its requirements. Possible solutions may be for example a lockable box or a rack in a lockable room. If you need any support concerning this design, please let us know!

Because RUN is focussing on private persons and SMEs the amount of handed in devices will be small too (down to one single piece). The point of picking-up the devices from you is individually designable (If you can only store a few devices we will pick them real soon).

You’ve got only one single duty: Collect the devices like described above and let us know about the succeeded collection. We will confirm the devices’ takeover during the pick-up process.

The collected devices get refurbished (checked, repaired and cleaned) in central and specialized shops. After passing this procedure they get sold again and live their second life.

In the second phase of the project we will offer additional unique service add-ons to the customers. Actually we are working out the routine for a data erasure process that happens directly under the customer’s eyes. As collection point we will update you regularly about new services ant the project’s progress. Also advertising material, provided on the web site, will get updated.

Yes you do. This contract regulates the project requirements related to the collection and the devices’ transfer.
